The side Panels for both the drivers and passenger seats I have replace twice now as they keep breaking, we all know this problem >:( , so now I have tried my hand at making a set ???

Has been a nightmare to make without a ban-saw to pre cut the shape out, but the finishing result is not to bad. Just need to think of some thing to fill the space ..... It will be my old regimental cap badge. 8-)
will be having a go on the in side ones at a later date.....

pickup a set for wolfrace mags thanks to Jordan

On the advice given to me cleaned one with brasso,

Cleanup nice but not to the standard I would like .... No bling to them ..

so next attempt was to try rubbing down a small section and try to polish it up by hand...

and hey presto ...

just the ticket will be getting all the bits in the morning to bring them to there former beauties

the before and after (should have taken the pics in the sun)
Apx time for the first of 4 ......... 6Hrs ( but now that I have done one and picked up a few pointers, the other's should not take as long)

all that is needed is a clean up of the back and 1 done ............. bring on the others :D

Have you lost any power??? seems odd you should leak oil from your head/piston joint and not lose any power, also you would hear a "chuffing" noise from that side when the engines running also! if it is leaking from there black smoke from the exhaust. if that is the case then yer valve guides or piston rings/bores are shot. a compression test or cylinder test will show the problem up.

the oil leak is at the same place on both sides ....

no loss of power...
no black smoke ......
no odd sounds .......

will not know till I have taken it out..

this weekend would was very busy for me and a mate ...

As may know I'm of the road so ..

Friday Dan picks up his new engine...... :D

Saturday, remove my borrowed engine from Dan's Bug and then fit the new engine his picks up on Friday in to it.

Sunday, remove my current engine and fit my spare one taken out of Dan's Bug in to my Bug

confused

These are from a Freind, taken at the start ....

[image] [image]

well both engins dropped .... and the start of the rebuild on the yellow bugs spare engine...

we like to keep things tidy ..... the box is an over kill for the parts taken of

[image] [image]

the Engine is out on the blue bug so here starts the work on the..
main oil seals .. done
push rod tubes need replacing .... needs to be done
manifold sleeves ... done
new manifold... on the to do list

so this will not be going back just yet....
check the my spare engine and the main oil seal needs replacing ... so no engine for the blue bug at all for the time being..

[image] [image]

while the engins out do some odd jobs ...
replace the orginal axle gaiters ... done

more & more problems .....

Started to strip the engine to locate the oil leak
[image]

as you can see oil leaks on all four barrels that had been working it's way down the out side of the barrels and on to the pushrod tubes (see above pics), so the heads will need to come off for further inspection
