Taken delivery of a few parts today.... the steering turn up and was not as good as I expected it to be, these were taken when I started to do a bit of work on it ..... Here just started stripping back the paint, in order not to damage the metal under the paint I tried Break fluid but just wasted my time ... I ended up using paint stripper and hoping for the best but turned out not to bad. will need a good polish .. Here the boss before I stated doing the same ..... After a few hours and a bit of elbow grease ... presto The boss will more work and if u r thinking the the badge in the middle of the steering wheel has anything to do with the 3rd Reich u r greatly mistaken, as it's my old Regimental badge 14/20th kings hussars and it's a Prussian eagle.

This is how I wanted the steering wheel to look when I was finished .... but it will not work, and I do not want to damage the badge in any way so will stick with the one above...

well finally got round to making one 34pic3 carb from the parts that have been given and purchased. The first attempt did not go well, looked the part when I had finished building it, but when I got in to place it would run for a while then just cut out... had a play with it but could not get in running (I think it was the fuel cut of cutting in?) I had vision of butting the Nikki carb back on The second attempt went better. I had a second body, so used the parts from the fist attempt and all went well. after some fine adjustments it running great. Took it for a little spin and responses quicker and has more of a kick to the 1600 Think will keep hold of the Nikki carb just in case. all in all it's a goods days work

;DGood news, or the >:(Bad news, >:(Bad news, >:(Bad newsThe Good news the seat covers have arrived. they turned up on Wednesday all the way from the USA from a company called Vee Dub Parts Unlimited with shipping $164.64 for two sets. (yep I got a good deal ) Before I ordered them I sent photos of the seats for the high backs, standard seats and the mountings just to make sure they sent the correct one's to me. The bad news 1, Been stung by the import tax for the delivery of wait for it £43.78 by British customs. (fcuk me sideways) The bad news 2, One set is missing the rear back rest and rear cushion, so only got the front seat covers that are the correct ones. ( there is a lable on the box that says front seat covers, how can someone miss that whem picking them from the racks) The bad news 3, The complete set (high backs) have the wrong front seat cushion covers and will not fit over the 3 point fitting I have, but the back rest are the correct as are the rear seat covers. The bad news 4, They have been sent them in the correct color black, but both sets have different patters on them so can not even make one complete set out of the two. I assume that when I get in contact with them, they will make some reason why this has happened and eventually send the correct ones, but no way an I going to stung again by the import tax. so at the moment they are sat on the floor in the dinning room collecting dust till I sort this all out (I'm thinking not to put any of it together just incase they have to go back) ooh and only just back to work this week from being ill (man fl, you how this is), so all in all a sh!t week.

Well freakybug the missing seat cover have turned up... standard front seat cover from TMI products Inc via a company called "vee dub parts unltd". So now I have a complete set cover to go over the current fcuk up ones. looks nice and new and the pattern going in the right direction so all OK so far but then it all goes tits up.... the front seat cover for the high backs came with the wrong style base covers they don't have the split at the front to the front mounting for the 3 pointer seats the back seat cover are great they have the correct pattern and look great.. these are the correct type but have the wrong pattern.. they go horizontal instead of vertical U can see they have the split at the front to allow for the mounting. QUESTION? How hard is it to chk these before shipping from the US... so now I have One complete set for the standard seat (low backs). One set of high backs with two sets of front base set cover incorrect. one with the wrong pattern and one with the wrong style . I can see a fleecebay posting ....

This is the pick of the high backs upright.... there is a remarkable difference the the two seats.... any way for the time being I think I will be sticking with these ... the seat cover are the Grey/blue color with blue speckles

thanks Phil for the comments.... the idea was to remove the wings and deck lid over the winter and and replace them, the rear valence was/is going to stay, but to fcuking cold at the moment!!!! so doing the inside trim in dinning room, ready for when it gets a little warmer.
