they will be dont you worry! ;D got cracking this morning(half an hour this morning and half an hour a dinner, roll on weekend! : started by taking off the front bumper where i found........you guessed it, filler! carryed on removing as much as i could and got to this then looking at the panel i noticed a couple of problems also the head light bowls show signs of being worked. i took off the vent cover to see if i could spot anything obvious and there it was so now she looks like this so out with the dash and interior tommorow. then get cracking on the cab floors. hoprfully theres no filler in the steps

Cheers dude. been a few days so thought id update. ive only had about 3/4 of an hour on it since thursday and ive managed to get the front panel off and make a start on the inner valance. sorry for the crap phone photos. doesnt look bad at all under the clip. the airbox has been pushed in abit but nothing drastic. Schofield inner valance looks realy good! bit of creasing on the back side which i might cut out and replace with smmoooth metal but apart from that it looks good. just hope it fits ;D Havent done one before so decided to take it slow. i made cuts up the outer-inner (??) panel about ever 6 inches and this allowed me to twist the spot welds off rather than spending hours drilling them or bending them off, i then found out that the vertical panel is part of the inner-inner valance which ill remove anyway. nearly just repaired the lower edge of the inner valance but when i took the outer skin off all this came out. its about 3" deep when scott told me to clen the sills out i didnt think it was this bad!! ;D so this is how she stands at the minute! If all has gone well for Scott today ill be picking the panels up from schofields tommorow. So i can crack on weds morning getting the clip to fit. Hopefully more updates tommorow. cant wait now! ;D[/QUOTE]

bit of an update. Got the the area around the valance cleaned up and clamped in place on friday. then tacked it in so i can move it if needs be when the clip goes on. chuffed with that. started on removing the air intake vent on the front as it also had been bodged after the bump. 137 Spot welds later!! made worse by the fact that i now have to do the same thing with the replacement  As you an see ive removed the inner winscreen panel as well after bracing the front pillars just to be on the safe side started to strip and pop mark the replacement clip tonight aswell. if i get the clip ready for welding by weekend ill be a happy boy!! ;D found this while cleaning the spot welds up, the original coul0our. think ill be respraying the bus this colour ;D would have got abit further tonight but got interupted by some guwuido in a blue boiler suit. he told me about a make of his thats making him do all the work on his 1970 camper. tight sod!

right UPDATE!! as some of you know, been in wales for a week so not touched the bus til yesterday so im stoked to get going again!! finally got the clip off and offered it up first problem was fowling on the middle skin, after much deliberation i decided the only way to keep the strength of the middle skin was to weld it into the inner skin so ive trimmed it and beaten it in, ill have to seam weld it and the dress it before i fit the panel. then i roughly trimmed the a pillars outer skin to match the new panel, accuracy wasnt a priority as im going to need to repair these anyway. before id cut anything i used a thin metal rule and scribed a line the width of it up the closing panel behing the a pillars so that (touch wood) they would be exactly the same when i cut them and it looks to have worked, so then i cut the excess metal away to get a better fit to the bus. bottom lines up ok so as long as the doors fit i shouldnt have to move the inner valance. so this is how she stands now, now used as storgae much like our other buses:lol: hopefully tommorow i can tack the panel in place and measure everything up then try the doors on, after ive moved the support bars cos some idiot put them where the door closes more tommorow hopefully. ;D

right an update. seems to be taking forever managing about an hour every couple of weeks at the minute but cant complain because the comapny is busy which is good in time like these! Started last friday morning by getting a couple of coats of black on the inner panel then got cracking on Monday morning cleaning up the front panel ready for welding, stuck some weld through primer on the bits ill be geldin up or repairing later and then a coat of primer on the whole panel once id cleaned up the paint. then it was time to tack the bugger up measured everything about 50 times and the door gaps are spot on measured against our un-messed with 72 dormobile (which is nice ;D) the only part thats out is the air box due to the bump on the front its abit bont in places meaning it doesnt sit quite exact, decided the best course of action was to fit the panel and then get the airbox to fit so it was all exact. got the door on for the final measurment of the passenger side, hopefully get the drivers side monday so this is how she looks now. hopefully have more updates soon ;D Ash

Pulled some more measurements of our dormobile yesterday so i can check the height of my clip and it match the original dormy one perfect. today i only managed to measure up and get the dash in to check fitment it lines up as near to perfect as im ever gona get it ;D Again sorry for the crap phone photo but keep forgetting my camera. also put the drivers door on and the clip itself sits right in measurements but the door sticks out abit and doesnt seem to want to go over on the hinges so ill sort that before i weld anything up just incase, super stoked now and actually enjoying my self again ;D ;D

Tad more progress but no pics cos i cant get them off my phone. The progress with the clip hasnt happend because im a tad bored of messing with it now. So to keep interested ive decided to tune the 1600 with a set of 36 dell's and a cam along with a fully merged zaust. As i plan to lower the bus a fair amount a tuckaway is the best option but the prices are HOOGE to say the least. After looking around at our works ive decided, im gona make my own ;D Long story short, when i offered the stainless can up (for the muffler) i noticed the engine support bar is off a late bay either way it needs sorting. As i may have mentioned the engine bay area was heavily modified to accept the diesel toyota engine the south african owner fitted, when the VW engine was put back in the supports for the engine bar had been removed and a late bay one fitted instead. trouble is its about and inch either way out of sque and is proper pants!!! So im gona to shorten it so the exhaust will fit easier ad it will look more earlybay. as it isnt origial anyway im going to modify the bar itself to sit further out so a CB maxi oil pump will fit for the full flow system:D. Something id never consider if it was original. Hopefully have some pics of progress so far tommorow ;D ;D

Heres a piccy of the engine and bar to show just how ccok eyed it is Ill be turning this into a slightly more earlybay look this will let me bring the exhaust further back and stop it warming the running gear. As you can see here its a but close and this is shorter than a turbo thomas muffler by about 4" would prefer it to sit about here So i decided to remove the engine bar so i could modify it slightly. you can see how its been fitted incorrectly. nearly 40 washer over the three bolts Unfortunatley trying to do one job (exhaust) has leads to about three others (engine bar mounts, engine bar modification and now) These So now i have to jack it up to get better access, but because ive removed the engine bar the engine is supported on blocks so i have to remove the motor and then the box if i can find a way of keeing that up. But before i can do that i have to get all the crap off the back:rolleyes:. Then weld everything up so im still a mile of doing anything inspiring . Never mind.
