Got all the crap off the back yesterday which seemed to take ages! then remembered that the previous owner had left this for me. literally 1 minute later (4 wires 3 bolts and a pallet truck.) strapped the gearbox up and Jacked the back up today then supported it slightly better. so now she looks like this. Good news is i feel like im back in the groove, decided today im sick of the front clip as im not seeing any progress so im just gona do it back to front instead and do abot on the clip every now and again Hopefully have the plates made for these in the next day or so so ill update then. ;D

;D No progress on the van itself as work is kicking my arse at the minute! Managed to grab an hour this weekend to start stripping the motor. The plan was to just check it over but man am i glad i tore it down The decision was made when i noticed the pully was loose but the nut tight, then when taking the flywheel of to get it on the engine stand, the gland nut was about as tight as a $2 hooker! once stripped it look rough, Not in bad condition just obviously been stood. Scott had told me about this when i bought it. B&P's look newish but one of the fins had been broken when they where fitted but apart from that and some coking up all look ok. May be changing these anyway but need to see if i can afford a bug bore doo. As you can see the rods are fairly rusty so a strip down seems to be the right choice so far. Also bought these from Alfa1750 on fleabay! the man is ace!! And after askin around about velocity stacks for drla 36's and not finding anything but 40's i though id make my own. These pics show my first rough drawing and the rings ill be using to create the smooth lip (If you fancy copying these the rings can be bought from a stainlesss fitting stockest and reside under the name 2" female RJT flange. if the price seems abit steep they have quoted for the nut aswell, but thats not needed obviously ) You get the idea ;D Im hoping my design will be a tad more efficent than the standard design which just sits on the top of the carb, filters, linkage plate and gaskets as these will go al the way to the carb eliminating the gap caused by the parts previouly mentioned when using the types that just sit on top. Hopefully start on these on the moro.

What with the weather this week making early starts impossible due to needing a lift the above stament is getting closer and closer. I have how ever made a start on the N/S sills. No rust at all on the arch end so ive left it in to make it abit easier Again ive never done a sill before so im kinda peeling the layers rather than hacking in a desperate attempt to know how it all goes back together ;D Got in this morning it was about -9 here so i was well up for sitting in the shop with a heater on prepping the inner sill ;D This isnt my nicest looking welding but after trying it with TIG (like a tit i didnt strip it and weld it i just tryed cleaning it up so the transit primer made little tiny bomb noises as it squandered away my metal! ) it was the only way i could get metal on fast enough.

Also got the rest of the sill away today so i can start on the inner. Havent got an inner strengthening panel so im going to have make one. But hay ho Also removed the the other section of cargo floor that was held with rivets to aid access to the spot welds holding the inner sills in place. Hopefully get most of tommorow on it, hope to get the fuel tank out and the inner sill then make way for the new ones. Not banking on it though as a friend of mine mentioned today the bolton has been forcast up to 15" of snow tonight! We can but hope! ;D

Got in this morning and with view to removing the inner sill etc. I was looking at this section trying to clean it up and get back to metal to see where the spot welds were. I thought the black stuff was horrible bitumin paint all thick and ugly. Turns out its infact a rather thin layer of black paint and the texture is the metal below also got the fuel tank out and found this After a closeer look the whole of the load floor is fairly fubar and the only way ill be happy with it is to replace it I checked the floor over and they look like they are modified from standard bus floors so thats good as heritage sell genuine VW ones ;D The closng panel for fuel tank access is also a little ropey so im going to make one of these while i have it out. So i did abit of measuring and hacking of the floor and came home Bck in tommorow maybe to finish removing the closing panel and more of the floor. Its not as bad as it seems because with the floor out i have access to the strengtheners for better welding. ;D

decided to go in for an hour today and leave the other half to here revision:rolleyes::lol: Got the closing panel out Then the tank mounts and opening for the fuel pipes etc then hacked some more of the floor out Ive asked around and flicked through here and it appears the brazilian floors arent up to the job.I spent a while measuring up so that i can have on made.Im either going to invest in / make a swager or get a the sheet folded by our sheet metal people. either way the finished artical wont like a stock one but im hoping it will look factory rather than a grafted in after thought.

Got a small amount done today oday:rolleyes: On a brighter note!! SOME GOODIES ARRIVED:D These beautys are the new floor. I aint just putting sheet in dont worry:lol: Watch this space for our epic failure/sucess! The bits on the floor are for our roll over frame:D Now for the REALLY cool stuff!! These arrived from T2D today!! Just waiting on the Kinkylink pin beam from vw classics and dropped spindles from transporterhaus. Then i can design my end plates and get those cut:D

Got a lil bit more done today. the bulk of the cargo floor is now. Decided the best way to stop anything moving was to support the rear pillar/cargo area with something. we had some 50mm angle lying about so ive tacked it to each top hat section to stop any movement there and then fitted some uprights up to the the frames under the back. It looks a tad over kill and ive not seen anyone do this but theres alot of bus relying on the bits im going to cut out so i though better safe than sorry. Just got to add some more belt and braces to the door frame now and i can lop the sil out to make way for the new uns!!

got the rest of my bracing in and got the majority of the sill out today, The worst bits are the bits at the bottom of the strengtheners! Loads of bits of sheet metals all spot welded together that you can get in to cut with an angle grinder. Hopefully our plasma cutter will be fixed by the time i tackle the other side:lol::lol: Should see a wee bit more progress tommorow but at the minute im managing about an hour a day if that. Roll on weekend:D

Decided to crack back on today and tackle the last bit stopping the sill going in Found these and a big dead spider! Sill in After some snipping, sawing and filing i clamped it up!! Then had to sweep up so i could get under the van to measure up! So tommorow final measure up and HOPEFULLY weld it in! Amazing how much inspiration something as simple as this can give!

Well got the inner sill all lined up and measured today so started getting it ready to fit! The schofield Inner sill doesnt have the drains in. I did a similar thing with a my project bug with a decent result so i decided id fit tubes instead, the idea being that its harder for water to get up them than the OG type. Ill be keeping the original type on the outer sill so as not to spoill the looks:D Searched everywhere for the galvo tube i used on my bug and couldnt find it anywhere!! So i took a stainless M12 bolt and made some:lol: Made them a snug in fit to a 9mm hole and tig welded them in Then cropped them at the same level as the sill. Im also going to had a 4th hole at the rear of the sill. Once they are in ill sink the metal around them abit to help water/crap get out of them. Hoping to get down there tommorow and get the inner sill tacked in and start making the strengthener sill:D:D

Not much visual progress today but got everything cleaned up and a repair panel for the b pillar made ready to fit once the inner sills in. Got a coat of ZG-90 weld through/cold galv primer on the clean sill and all the bits, re-measured and marked out for the spot weld holes So if i manage to get down tommorow i can hopefully finish weld the inner sill and make my inner strengthener

Got LOADS done today!! Well condsidering i got a couple of spare hours. Started by drilling the holes to fit the inner sill Then final and more final clamping and measuring before finally welding it in:lol: Then it was time to tackle the inner strengthener Started with a piece cut from my 8'x4' 18 gauge sheet Measured the lip on the inner to be 17mm so i scribed it down the side, then i clamped it between tow pieces of 2" angle held by a vice and carver clamps and started to work the top fold in with a soft mallet.
